This award offers scholarships to high school seniors who are accepted and registered as full time students into an N.L.N. accredited baccalaureate program in nursing. This applicant must show active service in the Black community and dedication to the nursing profession.
The members of the New England Regional Black Nurses Association,
Inc. Scholarship Committee are pleased to offer you the opportunity to
apply for scholarship assistance as you pursue your academic career.
The Robin Gaines Memorial
RN currently enrolled in a master’s degree program in nursing, advanced nursing practice, or public health program.
We are committed to supporting minorities of African descent (according to
federal guidelines) for education in the field of nursing. Our communities need health care providers who understand the issues and the
strategies that will promote effective change in the health status of
people of African descent.
Instructions for Completing Scholarship Application Requirements
Scholarship applications may be obtained from NERBNA members, the NERBNA
Web site, your nursing program, or by contacting the Scholarship
Committee.
Only completed applications will be considered. In order for your
application packet to be considered complete, you must include the
following information:

Completed, typed and signed application form
-
Official transcript and evidence confirming your enrollment and
good standing in an N.L.N. accredited nursing program. Current
grades must be submitted. Applicant must be enrolled in current
semester/quarter and must submit proof of enrollment (i.e.
course schedule).

The applicant must have at least one full year of school
remaining.

A 2X2 color photo for publication.

Typed resume or curriculum vitae.

Typed essay (maximum three pages) covering the following:
-
Discuss your career aspirations in the nursing profession.
Tell how you have contributed to the African American or
other communities of Color in areas such as: student nurse
activities work,
volunteering, church, or community outreach.

Share an experience that has enhanced your personal and or
professional growth.

Explain any financial hardships that may hinder you from
completing your education.
Three references, one from each of the following categories:

Personal (not family member)
-
Faculty
-
Employer, community person or nurse
Applicant must be a permanent resident of New England and a member
of the New England Regional Black Nurses Association, Inc. All
application documentation must be post marked no later than the end
of the traditional business day, March 1, 2012. Please do not send
by UPS. Presentation of the scholarships will be made at our April
2012 Annual Spring Conference.

must either be present to receive the scholarship or send a
representative in their absence."
